Deptford Market

Sometime this summer, we took my father-in-law to Deptford Market. That was an experience. A lot of the stuff there doesn’t have prices: I think if you ask, the stallholders take a look at you and then decide.

Anyway, I saw this. At first glance, with all the small appliances on the cover, it doesn’t look like a book about kitchen design.

It is and it isn’t. Some of the photography I recognised: it comes from Terence Conran’s publishing house, and uses material from his books (which I mention in mine). But it has old-school cut-outs and graph paper for designing, and pages cut up so that you can try out combinations of colour and style. It’s a bit of a trip.

I got mine from Amazon, though. It had a price, and didn’t smell of cigarettes.

If you buy my book, drop a review on Amazon. It helps it get noticed.

The Heart of the Home: Kitchen Planning, Design and Sales for Professionals and Consumers is the ONLY comprehensive guide for the UK. It’s in paperback from Amazon NOW.
