Of the books I mention in The Heart of the Home, I wish I had a copy of Caxton’s Book of the Home, just for its charm. But the copy I looked at wasn’t mine, and charm isn’t enough for me to go scouring antiquarian bookshops for one for myself.
This one has charm, too, though. Judith Miller seems to have had an alarming breadth of knowledge about old things, and what she says here about kitchens is cursory and out of date, but not wrong.
It’s mainly the pictures, though…
