Changes

Because I spent so long, on and off, writing The Heart of the Home, I had to keep deciding whether to amend it to reflect one or another recent development. Most were inconsequential, while some won’t be resolved for some time yet: recent concerns over quartz worktops, for instance, which seem to affect only people cutting them incorrectly, and are being addressed by manufacturers in their ingredient mixes.

There was also the constant, if gradual, shifting of supply and outlet chains, as companies change hands, go bust, or launch.

I chose to draw the line somewhere around the end of 2023, and at the time of writing, ten months later, I can’t think of anything that’s happened since that I wish I’d included. The only factual edit I’ve made this year is around John Lewis’s kitchen supply situation.

The principles, of course, outlast the details.
